What aspects of the film enticed you to play the role of Maxime’s mother, Olga?
I was touched by the love story of this couple who fights constantly but adore each other. I liked that their relationship was viewed through the eyes of the son. I was also curious about the idea of playing a character directly inspired by director Eric Besnard’s own mother. The themes in the story are explored in a very human perspective, in a way that resonates with me. Even if I have never gone as far as the character, I have also actively contributed to efforts allowing un-documented immigrant children as well as adults to remain in France. The idea of playing alongside Gérard Jugnot and Clovis Cornillac was, of course, a plus.
How would you define Olga? Nothing seems to be able to stop her. . .
Nothing and no one! She never tells her husband what she plans to do. Without doubt, she knows deep down he would approve of it. She is going to hide an un-documented immigrant child and get her own grown son and husband involved in the adventure. She is motivated and driven by conviction and affection. It is difficult to dissuade her. Her integrity and determination are unwavering, but they can also lead her to go too far.
