Presentation by and discussion with director and screenwriter Florence Corre
On October 17th 1961, in Paris, five young Algerians and three young Frenchmen were on their way to peacefully demonstrate against the curfew imposed by Maurice Papon, the Prefect of Police. This demonstration was an opportunity for the Algerians to show their dignity.
For Malek, the protagonist, it was a sign of hope for his generation in France. Saïd, Malek’s pal, used the occasion to express his frustration. The three French friends demonstrated for a France which respects its republican motto. Confident, they then explore the streets of Paris, sure of their human rights.
